Das White Horse Theatre am Gymnasium Ohmoor

Es ist nun schon eine lange Tradition, dass das White Horse Theatre im Winter zu Besuch an das Gymnasium Ohmoor kommt, und so präsentierte auch in diesem Jahr wieder eine aus vier Schauspielern bestehende Gruppe des White Horse Theatres zwei verschiedene Theaterstücke für die Jahrgänge 6 und 8. Die 6. Klassen amüsierten sich köstlich bei „The Green Knight“, eine auf der Legende von King Arthur basierenden Komödie. Für die Schüler der 8. Klassen ging es bei „Salt and Vinegar“ – einem lose an Shakespeares Tragödie „Othello“ angelehntem Stück – um Liebe und Intrigen. Besonderes Highlight ist jedes Jahr wieder die Diskussionsrunde mit den Schauspielern am Ende der Vorstellung.

Review: „Salt and Vinegar“ (by Alina M., 8b)

I enjoyed watching the play “Salt and Vinegar“ by Peter Griffinth, which is about two girls and two boys and their chaotic love-life. I felt really excited watching the play because of the plot twist that Tommy and Ellie want to break up Wendy and Grant’s relationship.

Everything starts with Tommy and Grant going to a holiday camp and meeting two other girls, called Ellie and Wendy. But the big problem is that both of the boys have a crush on Wendy. After a couple of days Grant and Wendy tell each other about their feelings and start having a relationship. Tommy feels really lonely and wants Ellie to help him to separate the happy couple. Ellie has a big crush on Tommy, so she agrees, but suddenly she feels bad for Grant and Wendy and tries to fix the damage they have caused.

What I didn’t like about the play is that Wendy isn’t disappointed and mad at Ellie at all after she tells her about the plan of separating her from her boyfriend. This is really unrealistic.

What I liked about the play is that it had a moral background of Tommy regretting what he did and him being completely alone.

I really enjoyed this play and recommend it to older teenagers (15-16 years) because of its content. But I’ll give the play a rating of four stars out of five.
